Week 3

Pappy, Uncle Matty and cousins Brock and Bella were here to party. It was loud, we made tons of dirty diapers (thanks trash man!), watched the Rangers make it to the World Series, rode bikes, hit every neighborhood park within reasonable distance, read lots of books and visited the pumpkin patch.

Thank you Pappy and Matty for driving the long distance in the wee hours, for all the handyman projects you completed Pappy and for all the bumps and bruises you allowed Matty when you supervised me, not sure which I enjoyed more...flying down the slide head first into the blacktop or tumbling off the merry-go-round?!?

Reese is taking it all in stride, patiently observing and allowing me to give her open mouth kisses on the head and pinch her nose. Brock loved holding Reese and telling her how "sweet" and "precious" she is while Bella and I scuffled over my books and toys (we both have a stubborn "captain" side in us). A typical baby, she is eating, sleeping and being held a lot (especially needed at night so mommy and daddy are a bit sleep deprived). She seems to have a gentle tummy like me so I recommended Neocate and she appears to be responding well to it. Most importantly she is growing...weighing 7lbs. 9 oz.

Week 2

Gammie came to be with us. She cooked, cleaned, organized, changed dirty diapers, put me down for naps, fed and held Reese, took me to the park and the zoo and exhausted herself in "baby prison" (as mommy and daddy are calling it these days). Thanks for making the time, the trip and bringing the love.

One Week Two Days

Our family has had a wonderful week together! I'm happy to report we are all feeling blessed. Of course, with any transition we have our ups and downs, but generally speaking we are settling in nicely.

Reese: She came home from the hospital weighing in at 5lbs. 13oz. She maintained that weight for several days and then our doctor said she needed to start bottle feeding for continued growth. I told her I know the eating game is a difficult one to master as I recall my experience but I'm confident she will pick it up in no time! So for now mommy nurses her, feeds her a bottle and then makes more milk (every 3 hours). Reese is doing a lot of sleeping too which gives me more time to play with daddy. I enjoy seeing her first thing in the morning, kissing her on the head and putting her pacifier in her mouth. She is very patient (like daddy) and seems to be very easy going. I think she's pretty too.

Me: Playing hard with Daddy, Nana & G-Force, Aunts Becca, KK, Anna and B, "Aunt" Maggie and anyone who stops in for a quick visit. Mrs Sarah took me and my pal Eric to the zoo this week too and I rode the train. I'm obsessed with finding my belly button, have read Corduroy the book at least 50x this week, love to carry around my foosballs (at least 2 at a time), and enjoy pretend vaccuuming/mowing with my push along. I help Mommy empty the dishwasher too. My molars are still upsetting me now and again and there are days that I fight to have only 1 nap like a big boy. Mommy says I've grown a lot in the last few weeks and I told her "I'm a big brother now so I need to be strong and handsome!"

Mommy and Daddy: I've seen a few of Mommy's tears, some because she is happy and some because it's just a lot of new stuff. But Daddy and I hold her and say it's going to be okay. We are both adjusting to her not being able to pick me up because of her surgery; we are finding other clever ways to snuggle. Daddy goes back to work tomorrow so Gammie is arriving today to play with me. Daddy and I have wrestled a lot this week and he's chased me off "his grass" many times. We went swimming, read books, went on long walks together and I took my first shower standing up like a big boy with him. I always like to be held by Daddy and I hate when he gets too far out of sight.

Metta: She ate a whole loaf of garlic bread, terrorizes the trash whenever she has the opportunity, howls for no reason at all (now more than usual) and she continues to stand under my high chair when I eat because she knows I will give her what I don't want.
